We use the New Meadows Marina a couple times a year for overnighting. The supplies store is pretty good as mentioned in the article. The docks are well lit at night and everyone seems pretty friendly.

A pretty good place but I agree about the foam. Other than that all ok.

New Meadows MarinaNew Meadow’s Marina is located at the northern most navigable portion of the New Meadows River (Mapit) near Brunswick, Maine (Mapit). The Marina itself takes about 75% of the width of the river at that point.

It features permanent and some temporary dockage with a distinctive community atmosphere; it’s not unusual for the more permanent occupants to welcome a transient to the dock. In 2005 the overnight fee was $1.50 per foot. There are no moorings.

Getting There

Finding the Marina by water is a snap. Make your way to the mouth of the New Meadows River (Mapit) and continue north until you can’t go any further.

The New Meadows is generally deep enough for most boats with a couple of exceptions at low tides. At low, the approach immediately before the marina can get to 4-5 feet. Keel sailboats should be aware of this. (Another shallow area a dead low is the so-called middle ground, about  miles to the south has a brief stretch.

Power boats should not have an issue, but everyone should be weary of underwater obstructions within a half mile of the marina. Follow the charts and take it slow.

The Foam

One of the ongoing issues with this area of the river is foam coming through the road culvert that crosses the New Meadows directly next to the Marina. It deposits itself on your boat’s waterline – particularly when docked close by. The rather ugly looking deposit does wash off with soap and water. It in this day and age one must wonder what is in the river that is causing this form.

The Store

The Marina features a store which is packed with a surprising number of parts and items for their size. From paint to engines you can probably get it there. Sundries are limited but there is an ample convenience store within walking distance.

Boat Rentals

Their website says they rent boats from 16-20 feet.
