The Basin is a near-perfect Gunk hole which features a small state-owned island you can visit and two nearby places to visit for lunch and dinner. It is located just a short distance up the New Meadows River. It is easily reachable if you are traversing Maine coast between Casco Bay and the entrance to the Kennebec River.
