A great place to put your boat in. Been going there for a few years now and wouldn't change a thing. Fishing could be better, but that's no ones fault but mine, have to fish better. The Lobster boat racing in July should be checked out, looks like they all have a lot of fun. And if you ever get in trouble I bet the one that saves you is a local lobsterman, so their wakes rock your boat in the moring when they head out, not a big thing it's time to go fishing anyways. It's good to know that they're all way out there.

We have enjoyed kayaking here for several years,so it seemed natural to moor our sailboat here.last season(2005). Great ramp for launching, very easygoing atmosphere. Gas,Diesel and water and ice at the dock. Dean usually runs the dock, and he is great!

The restaurant is 5 stars. Watching the boats in the marina is a bonus.

We stop by Dolphin several times a season to eat at the restaurant. Try the fish baskets!

One thing we'd like to see at Dolphin is some minimal supplies - bread, milk, large soda bottles, etc. Add that and they'd be a perfect 5 boats.

What a great place. We stayed there a week on a mooring and the dock hands were terrific.

A pretty good Marina except sometimes they do not monitor channel 9 as advertised. They do respond to a horn blow, but it was frustrating calling over and over again with no response. This happened two or three times. Maybe their radio was on the blink.

Dolphin Marina [Mapit!] located in Potts Harbor near the southern most tip of Harpswell Island is an excellent jumping off point into Casco Bay. It offers permanent and overnight moorings; a few slips and is co-located with the mouth-watering Chowderhouse Restaurant.

The Ramp and Parking

Launch

Their single-lane ramp has a concrete base, although age and time has taken its toll. Large jetty-size blocks of concrete along side form a partial barrier to the wind. The ramp distinguishes itself by being all-tide - not all that common in this area of 8 and 9 foot swings.
Ramp

There is ample room for rigging if you are trailering. Parking costs $5 for the day, along with a $5 launch fee. It’s another $5 to keep your vehicle overnight. These were 2005 prices. Warning: Do not park near the restaurant!

Supplies and Sundrees

The Chowderhoue restaurant is the "big deal" at Dolphin for food. But you can get block ice, soda and the morning newspaper at the dock. A country store is located about a 10 minute away and the town of Brunswick [Mapit!] about 15 minutes beyond that. You'll find a surprising number of restaurants in Brunswick as well.

Gas, Dock Service, Moorings and Slips

Gas is available and dock attendants are always helpful. Shuttle service to and from the immediate mooring area is available for free in-season. There are plenty of moorings available and we’ve never be unable to pick up one for the night ($20 per night in 2005). The peak season runs from Memorial to Labor day.

Keep in mind that Dolphin Marina is located in Potts Harbor [Mapit!] which tends to get a lot of in and out Lobster Boat traffic. No problem as these folks are professionals, but the wakes some of them leave can be quite exciting particularly if you are in an outside area mooring.

The Restaurant

Well, during our last trip to Dolphin Marina a helicopter flew over us and landed in the field near Dolphin. The occupants proceeded to the restaurant where I’m sure they enjoyed a spectacular meal while overlooking Potts Harbor. This says it all.

The food is excellent and the wait staff friendly. The view is great and the prices are reasonable for a seasonal restaurant with such a spectacular view. The restaurant is normally packed for dinner with a lot of people who arrive by car.

Sometimes my family and I like to get Dolphin take-out and enjoy it on the boat.

Conclusion
Dolphin Marina (and Chowderhouse Restaurant) is easy to access from Casco Bay or by road at the end of Harpswell Island. It's worth a visit - and especially a meal! It's a good spot to overnight, gas up and launch as well. If you are trailerable, one of the best aspects about Dolphin is location - you are projected well into Casco bay with easy access to other great spots such as Jewell Island, The Gooslings, Cliff Island and more.
