The Centerboard Yacht Club in South Portland has been around since 1937, promoting sailing and seamanship to its members.

 

Their club schedule is an energetic mix of cruises to local Casco Bay islands such as Jewell Island and the Gooslings, plus many more destinations. You can view their most recent schedule on their website. You'll see other activities such as races and lobster bakes.

 

Their website is silent on membership, but based on a previous application by the writer the fees are not trivial and you must know someone in the club to be considered. But in exchange you get use of their facilities and involvement in what appears to be an active and positive sailing club.
